  • A tale of two lids: applying eye makeup for two different looks

There are many ways and many artist. But what bis the right way? through the years I have done it many ways trying to feel out the most efficient. Ultimately coming upon everybody is different. to make things easier there is a rule of thumb. But many a times I have found that it didn't apply because of one or two different reasons. Maybe their lid was to small or they just wanted really bold colors. In general there is a list that would help the beginner artist make things easier. Until you find out what is best for you, here is a rule of thumb. How to Apply Eye shadow Step 1: Prime Your Lid. Always sweep a primer over your lids before applying eye shadow that you want to stay on all day. Why this step is important: If you have greasy lids or do when summer hits, the primer keeps the eye shadow in place. You'll find your shadow won't budge even when running the New York City Marathon. Step 2: Sweep a Neutral Color Over Your Lids. Why this step is important: The neutral sweep of shadow is the main shadow base from which you'll build the rest of your look. Even if you're only going for a basic look for weekday or weekend, a neutral color will make your eyes pop and cover up any lid discoloration. Step 3: Blend in a Darker Color to Your Crease. Why this step is important: This step adds drama and definition to your eyes. Tools: Use a brush meant for the crease and apply to the crease. Step 4: Add Highlighter Above the Crease. Try to keep the color off the brow bone (sweep color up to the brow bone) and lighter shades are always better. Stay away from dark shades here. Step 5: Press a Light Shade Into the Inside Corner of the eye. Why this step is important: Nothing will make your eyes look as awake as this trick. Don't use it most days, but it's amazing for special events, dates or for evenings out. 6. Blend in a darker color to the outer part of your eye. For the next step, blend in the darker shade into your crease, starting from the inside of the eye with a thinner line growing thicker as it extends to the outside of the crease. Make sure the lids match and blend, blend, blend. You cant over blend. If you have a 3-color palette, choose the darkest color. If you have a 4-color palette, choose the 3rd darkest. If you're not using a palette, use a color that's in the same family as your neutral color. Why this step is important: This step adds drama and definition to your eyes. So there you have it. using these techniques can help you find what is best for you. if you want to learn more techniques take VIP Beauty's Makeup Certification and learn from the pros. www.vipbeautystylist.com #eyeshaddow #mascara #makeupcertification #tampa ##makeupclass #tampasalon

  • Why your skin needs 8 hours of beauty sleep too

When it comes to your beauty routine, sleep may be the closest thing there is to a fountain of youth. Your body repairs itself and recovers while you snooze, and that leads to a long list of benefits for your looks. The key is to get enough shut-eye -- 7 to 9 quality hours each night. If you’re getting fewer than 6 hours, it’s likely affecting your appearance, says Michael Breus, PhD, a board-certified sleep specialist. Start getting 1 to 3 more hours of Zzz's, and you could see some improvement in as little as a day. Keep it up, and “within 2 to 3 weeks, people will notice that you’re sleeping better by the way you look, Here are the six beauty benefits of getting enough rest. 1. Fewer Wrinkles Skin makes new collagen when you sleep, which prevents sagging. “That’s part of the repair process,” says Patricia Wexler, MD, a dermatologist in New York. More collagen means skin is plumper and less likely to wrinkle. Only getting 5 hours a night can lead to twice as many fine lines as sleeping 7 would. It also leaves skin drier, which can make lines more visible. 2. A Glowing Complexion Your body boosts blood flow to the skin while you snooze, which means you wake to a healthy glow. Skimp on sleep and your complexion can look drab, ashen, or lifeless. “Sleep deprivation causes a decrease in blood flow to the skin surrounding your face, “Skin becomes dull, and you don’t get those rosy cheeks anymore.” 3. Brighter, Less Puffy Eyes Chances are, you’ve had dark circles or bags under your eyes after a night of too few Zzz’s. “Puffy eyes are one of the first things we see when we don’t sleep,” says Doris Day, MD, a clinical associate professor of dermatology at New York University Langone Medical Center. Get enough shut-eye and you'll have less puffiness under your eyes Stay well-hydrated and elevate your head with an extra pillow at night, too. That can also help reduce swelling. #skin #lotion #sleep

  • Caring cuts Program at VIP Beauty

When Angela Di Leone got so many request about people in need that were home bound. hospitalized, and hospices, she knew she had to do something. I just couldn't believe that there was not already a place that did this. I started with 1 and loved it so much that I wish I could strictly do just this. There was something inside of me that just clicked. I was fortunate enough to be able to have a mom and grandma that never had to search for a service like this. I had to purchase a few special devices and take an extra policy out to protect me in the event. but ultimately it was well worth it! One clientele in particular that made a huge impact was Melissa. Melissa's Mom called me and left a voicemail that I will never forget. She was crying on the voicemail saying her daughter not well and on ventilators in ICU in Tampa general. I know this sounds weird but her last request is to have her hair cut by a professional. You see she has her second bout of ovarian cancer and only in here 30's.When I arrived I didn't know what was about to happen. Melissa very coherent smiled with ventilators in here and her mom describing what has happen to make her hair so matted. I think that day was the turning point of caring cuts. I de-matted her hair and what I could cut off of her to make her short enough so she could not be bothered by the tangling in her tubing. She had been fighting for her life for months and was at the end. when I was done she gave me a thumbs up and wrote thank you on her dry erase board with a tear in her eye. She reached for my hand and squeezed it. everything inside me wanted to burst into tears. She reminded me of my own daughter. Then she pointed to her mom. Mom said she wants me to get mine done too. Mom had been stuck in this room taking care of her daughter for months. her daughter knew her mom needed her hair done too. So we did moms hair as well. with a big smile on this beautiful girls face. Mom says there we both got pampered. When mom went to pay I said please no. I have angel sponsor that has paid for this for you. I didn't want to ask for any money to cover cost. Nor did I want to be a burden on this family during these times. She denied my request and said please take this and use for someone else then. I have a few amazing clients that support my mission to do this until I can become a non-profit and fund raise. Melissa passed the week after. Since Melissa I get so many calls and request for haircuts from random people in need. i can only do this right now as I can. With my business booming its hard to accept all that is needed. I try to get at least every request in. For now its just me but in the future I pray for more income to pay people to have a team to offer this. Thank you to Tampa Bay Morning Blend for sharing this need. Be angel sponsor and help more Melissa's get the services they need. #caringcuts #homeboundhaircuts #mobilesalon #hospicehaircuts #hospitalhaircuts
